Sailing in Marmaris

Marmaris is the starting point of the Marmaris International Race Week Series, a sailing week organized by the Turkish Marmaris International Yachting Club that is held around October/November each year. On average, 100 ships participate in the race, which is divided into three categories: the sponsored racing yachts (Race Cruisers), the charter class (Cruisers) and the traditional sailing ships (Classic Yachts).

Diving in Marmaris

You can dive around Marmaris pretty well. At ‘Aquarium Bay’ there are beautiful caves to see. Special is the ‘chimney cave’. Through narrow passages, you dive to the lower ‘room’ which is about 18 meters deep. Through a narrow chimney, you come out at a depth of about 5 meters. There are also several underwater caves, 400-year-old anchors and large amphora fields.

At Octopus Bay you have a chance to see small moray eels and octopuses. Near the small island of Bedir Ada, at a depth of 24 meters, there is an 800-year-old Ottoman wreck.
